Foundation Org - Q3 2024 Update

General Announcements & Updates

  • First Grants Cycle Completed: The Foundation completed its first Grants cycle in August. For the quarter ending 30 June 2024, the Drips Org nominated three community contributors for Grants. The work recognized includes Product Feedback, Evangelizing Drips on Twitter and Code contributions. The total grant budget for the quarter was 1,000 USDC. After outreach to the Grant nominees, two nominees confirmed their agreement to participate in the round of Grants, and were subsequently voted on via a Collaborative Drip List by the Drips team. The third nominee provided their information after the deadline, and has therefore been carried forward to the next Grants cycle. You can see some of the love for these community contributors shared on X.
  • Annual Proposal in December: During recent discussions with some ecosystem stakeholders, several Org Leads have made the case for creating better alignment by combining their 2025 Annual Org Proposals into a single Radworks Governance Proposal (RGP), with objectives and budgets representing multiple Orgs. As a result, the December cycle will be used for reviewing and voting on the “group” annual proposal. More information (and the adjusted December cycle timeline) can be found in this forum post.
  • Looking for an Operations Admin: The Foundation started to hire for an Operations Admin. More information can be found in the job description.

Quarterly Objectives Updates

Operations

  • Foundation Health:
    • Q3 Foundation Council Meeting: The quarterly Foundation Council meeting in Switzerland took place in September. Abbey resigned from the Council and Ele was voted onto the Council. The Council thanked @abbey for her fearless leadership over the last few years.
  • Radworks Ecosystem Support:

Marketing

  • Binance Campaign Completed: On 5 September, we launched a Learn & Earn campaign with Binance. With the aim of increasing awareness of Radworks and its mission as well as the RAD token. Participants were able to watch a video about Radworks and complete a short multiple choice quiz at the end to receive 1RAD (100,000 RAD were available).

The campaign ran for 14 days - here are some key highlights of the stats:

    • All 100,00 RAD tokens were redeemed in under 18 hours of the campaign launch
    • 1,262,800 total page views over the life of the campaign
    • Of the tokens redeemed 46,147 were new RAD holders
    • The top 5 countries where people participated were: Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Ukraine, and Algeria

In terms of reaching our aims of raising awareness we’re pleased that the campaign achieved those aims - we reached new audience in countries we haven’t previously targeted in any way and we also reached many new token holders.

  • Radworks Discovery and Strategy: In Q2, Ange shared “an updated approach to Radworks Marketing,” outlining a revised focus on three objectives:

    1. Increase awareness of the RAD token among potential holders.
    2. Boost awareness of Radworks ecosystem projects.
    3. Improve engagement quality within the Radworks community.

This marked the start of a strategic shift. In July, we hired Ed as our new Marketing Lead, which led to a deeper review of our objectives and the way Radworks presents itself.

Ed’s focus on branding revealed that Radworks has evolved, but our brand hasn’t kept up. We now need to rework our brand strategy and visual identity. However, before we proceed, we must answer foundational questions about Radworks’ identity, value proposition, and its relationship to the organizations it supports. While some answers exist in previous documentation, we lack a unified vision and a clear elevator pitch. Most importantly, we need a strong, enduring vision to guide us forward.

To align on this, we’ve begun collaborating with ecosystem leaders in a series of workshops and discussions. We’re exploring Radworks’ history, its evolution, and its future potential. By mapping out our contributors’ expertise, technology, and our vision for sustainable open-source development, we aim to define Radworks’ next evolution.

In parallel, we’re conducting exploratory research with mission-aligned organizations. This work is just beginning, but we’ll have more to share in the coming months. Expect updates within two months.

Timeline & Budget Update

Yuval has produced monthly reports for July and August. Moving forward we will be producing quarterly reports (as will all Orgs) and we hope to file the Q3 report by the end of the month.

The Foundation remains on budget, the only unexpected expenditure was an offsite held in September as part of some of the “Radworks Discovery and Strategy” work mentioned above.
