[RFC] Radicle Org Proposal 2025

Author(s): @cloudhead
Type: executeable org
Created: 2024-12-02
Status: active

Purpose

To create a sustainable and decentralized alternative to centralized code forges.

See here for more information.

Objectives

  • Maintain Radicle heartwood, the core libraries, CLI and TUI.
  • Provide a stable foundation on which Radicle applications can be built.
  • In Q1, release Canonical Refs.
  • Evaluate new entity structure for ongoing, long term maintenance of the Radicle Protocol.

Organizational Structure

Radicle operates as an open source project, with maintainers and contributors. The organization is simply a vehicle for funding work on Radicle.

Legal entity: SΓ‘rl based in Switzerland, with @cloudhead as managing director.

Contributors

Note that others such as @fintohaps and @liw are not included here despite contributing to Radicle, since they will no longer be under this org’s budget.

Communication

Reasoning & Analysis

The role that Radicle plays for Radworks is that of providing a technological foundation on which products can be built.

Reporting & Success Criteria

Fulfilling our objectives is what we’re after. Releases are published on social media and on our blog for everyone to see.

Timeline & Budget

Budget: 496,923 USDC
Requesting: 0 USDC

Item Budget
Contributors $444,642
Accounting $10,131
Operational expenses $42,149
Total $496,923

Radicle has budgeted 496,923 USDC for its work in 2025, as outlined in this proposal; therefore, because it is applying the unspent funds from 2024, Radicle is not requesting any additional USDC.

Management of Funds

  • DAO funds will be received on a 3:2 multisig (Safe)
    • @cloudhead as signer (two keys)
    • @sllyllyd as signer
  • Funds to be paid in fiat will be paid out by Skyline Digital.
  • Payouts will be done by operations on a monthly basis.

I support this proposal.

The objectives are clear and focused on core protocol development and the budget is modest and efficiently allocated making use of existing funds rather than requesting additional USDC.

The team structure and experience, particularly with @cloudhead as managing director, provides confidence in successful execution.
