Radicle Org - Q3 2025 Update
General Announcements & Updates
Helsinki
During the Q3 period, we had some face-to-face time in Helsinki. This time together was invaluable as we were able to talk through some of the harder problems we are facing in the project. This lead us to…
Roadmap
While we were together, we listed the top things we would like to get done over the next period of Radicle. We won’t be treating this as an exact blueprint, but more like a map that has some parts filled in and some are missing (can you tell I’ve been playing Silk Song and Hollow Knight lately?)
We will be publishing that at a later date, but here is a taste of some of the items on there:
- Improved Release Management
- Further Identity & Multidevice Research
- Policy Improvements for Moderation
- Reaping Repositories
- Compatability with Git Worktrees
Releases
Since the last time I presented we have continued to have regular releases of the Radicle binaries. We have also started giving them flower nicknames, because why not ![]()
- Radicle 1.3.0 – included canonical references, a long awaited feature!
- Radicle 1.4.0 – Lily – improvements to canonical references, and Windows compatibility.
- Radicle 1.5.0 – Hibiscus 🌺 – QoL improvements for maintainers and developers.
1.6.0
Here a couple of major things you can expect in the next release, 1.6.0.
Windows
We are super proud to announce that we have Radicle node working on Windows. There have been a series of patches that have chipped away at making the whole heartwood repository compatible on Windows machines. For the past couple of weeks, we have been testing an alpha build of these changes. Things are looking good, and Windows users can expect to be able to run radicle-node and interact with it via the rad CLI. There may still be some rough edges hiding, but we are getting there – one step at a time.
CLI Improvements
We have been making an effort to migrate our CLI to use clap. This is to lighten the maintenance of writing manual parsing code, and avoiding mistakes along the way. On top of this, it will allow us to tap into the clap ecosystem to provide auto-completion of commands and dynamic completion as well.
Hiring
We have made the effort of putting together the profiles for people we want to hire, and advertised the job descriptions (Work for Radicle) on Zulip. This has resulted in some applications already, and interviews are underway!
Quarterly Objectives Updates
By the end of this quarter we would like to say that we have:
- Hired a new developer to the team
- Published the Roadmap to radicle.xyz
- Improved the story of moderation within the protocol
- Have an improved plan for multi-device and identity
Budget
Operations have told me that we are all good here ![]()
Upcoming
Continue to expect regular releases with continuous improvements to the current major version of Radicle, and watch out for those roadmap items!
