How it Works
Anyone who is interested in becoming a community delegate that will be listed on the Radicle delegate platform will have to respond to this post. Respondents will need to share the info listed below in their announcement post. The Governance Working Group has created a delegate platform that will reflect all of this information from each profile. This model will allow any community member to take on responsibility in governance representation. The Governance WG is also aiming to provide metadata around each profile that displays how often/how much each delegate has been delegated to. This helps delegates build a reputation and allows for natural competition between delegates.
Expectations and Responsibilities of Delegates
Active delegates hold the responsibility to fulfill the following requirements:
Keep a public profile outlining background, core values and what you believe in as a delegate
Actively participate in the Governance forum i.e. contributing to discussions on proposals
Publicly share positions on all proposals that make it to the Formal Review stage of the governance process.
Actively vote in all formal reviews (Snapshot Polls) & on-chain votes
Participate in monthly WG calls
These requirements are outlines in more detail in the Delegate Standards.
Announcement Template
Deviation from the following template is acceptable, but you should try to cover everything in the template. This is a chance for you to explain what you stand for as a delegate as clearly and unambiguously as possible. Please note that sections that are “optional” are marked as such - everything else is required.

Core Values/Governance Beliefs: Please list a few (2-4) core values you hold that will help inform your voting process in Radicle Governance. This should also touch on why you believe in the Radicle vision.
Delegate Statement: Your delegate statement should include what you believe in as a Radicle delegate and why RAD holders should delegate to you. This can also include your visions for Radicle governance, descriptions of any relevant experience, etc. There is no official format for this section, but we recommend you try to keep it under 500 words.
Conflicts of interest: Please list any relevant conflicts of interest (i.e. employed by Radicle, financial holdings in competitors, receiver of funds from being on any Grants committees, etc.)
Once announced, the Governance WG will add an “Active Delegate” badge to your Discourse profile to make it easier for folks to spot delegates in forum discussions. To make this badge visible next to your name, click on the notification and select “Active Delegate” under “Select a badge to use as your title.”
Please also post an announcement on Twitter to share your active delegate status. We also recommend sharing a link to the Radicle Active Delegates platform page in this tweet so folks can easily find your delegate address and profile.

Follow the Radicle Governance Twitter (@rad_gov) or subscribe to the Radicle Governance Newsletter to stay up to date on voting information, and important announcements. Keep an eye out for new proposals under the Governance category on Radicle’s Discourse channel and respond to posts that make it to the Formal Review stage of governance.
Important Notes:
This new active delegate announcement process and platform will be different from the self-announced delegates in the “Delegate Pitches” category on Discourse. These delegates did not post any information on their philosophy around governance or consistently voices thoughts towards specific proposals. Active delegates are currently active community members who will be responsible for maintaining a public delegate profile (see next section) and upholding an obligation to the community to be as transparent about their voting choices as possible. RAD holders are of course still able to delegate to the delegates under the “Delegate” category, but they will not appear on the Active Delegate Platform and we advise you to make sure they are still listed on either Boardroom or Tally.
You DO NOT have to announce yourself as an active delegate for someone to delegate to your address. This new process and platform are again meant to provide an opportunity for motivated community members to make themselves known to the broader Radicle community to let token holders know they are happy to vote on their behalf. All RAD holders, however, are able to delegate their voting power to any verified address they would like.

Delegate Statement
I am dedicated to expanding the reach of Radicle and developing a clear and inclusive governance process as the project moves towards full decentralization. I have been a Governance Facilitator at Radicle since September 2021, where my main focus has been on improving Governance-related resources and increasing participation in the Governance process through stakeholder outreach and expanding communication efforts. I have helped Abbey build out the vision of Radicle governance and play a key role in the Governance Working Group.
I believe in adopting proposals that expand not only Radicle’s network effects, but also grow the community at large. This includes exploring new ways to fund community members who bring value to the Radicle ecosystem (such as through the RGP), building better connections with ecosystem partners, and looking for new value/growth opportunities for the Radicle treasury.
As I play an intimate role with the Radicle governance process as their Governance Facilitator, I am consistently up to date on what proposals are up for discussion and when voting takes place. As a delegate for the Radicle community, I promise to be as transparent and diligent as possible when making decisions on proposals and will post thoughts on all proposals that come through.

I’m keen to see Radicle governance serve the entire Radicle ecosystem, particularly developers and builders. I believe if we serve the builders with our governance decisions then that’s the best way for us to serve all other stakeholders. As an individual leading the Growth core unit, I am working on ecosystem building efforts and speaking to all sides of it almost daily. I am also on the committee of our grants programme. I think I’m well placed to reflect ecosystem interests in governance decisions.

Core Values/Governance Beliefs
DAOs should be operated for the benefit of users and tokenholders.
Doing few things well is better than doing many things poorly.
Run as many experiments as possible (while minimizing the downside risk of each experiment).

I’m the co-founder of Reverie. What we do is simple: we work for DAOs to help them grow. We also invest in DAOs and DAO infrastructure. Our core goal is to make DAOs bigger and more efficient than traditional companies. We’re eating our own cooking by working for several DAOs, including Compound (grants program), Uniswap (DeFi Education Fund), and dYdX (grants program). Finally, I should note that we’re on the Radicle Grants Program committee.

Free/Libre and/or Open Source Software (FLOSS) is a public good the world depends on.
A closed source platform, operated by a single $MEGACORP, governed by the rules of a single country, is not the right home for a good that “belongs” to us all.
Power corrupts. Decentralization is really about avoiding concentration of power and that can lead to a more fair society.

My work here will be done once FLOSS has moved to a decentralized FLOSS home, where it is no longer at risk of being censored, has no gate keepers and enables everyone to build “on the shoulders of giants”.
In my 15+ years in the software industry, I have tried wearing many different hats (dev, product, coach, manager, customer service, startup founder, community, business owner) in a conscious effort to appreciate everything it takes to “build software”.
I believe this background affords me an all-rounded view that helps me appreciate competing priorities and balance them accordingly.

I would never want all of the RAD supply delegated to me. I am only interested in adding a voice/opinion to decisions being made - I am not interested in becoming the decision maker. (centralization of power)

I’m Abbey, Head of Community & Governance at Radicle. I’ve been with the project for the last 2.5 years, wearing many different hats along the way. My current “prime directive” is to support the project’s transition to the DAO by setting the foundation for a DAO-funded free and open source project to flourish. Alongside of @shelb_ee, I steward Radicle governance with the Governance WG. I also sit on the committees of the Radicle Grants Program and Ecosystem Growth Fund.
