The XDG Specification has devs put their config files in a directory under ~/.config instead of creating yet another dotfiles directory in their home dir. There’s a little more to it than that, but the clutter is real and it’d be nice to have a new app use the more modern way of doing things rather than adding to the clutter.

Thanks for reaching out about this @masukomi. Unfortunately this story is not straightforward for multiple reasons: not standardized bin directory, supporting multiple target platforms and state isolation. See existing issues on the topic for some context
