Q3 highlights
-
Launched RetroPGF on Drips with Filecoin’s largest round to date. Our new RetroPGF solution is now being used by Filecoin, currently taking in applications for their largest round to date. FIL-RetroPGF-3 will distribute over 580k FIL to impactful projects, all on Drips. -
Partnered with the Ethereum Foundation. The EF distributed $30,000 to key dependencies on Drips. -
Open-Sourced Gardener. Our latest software project uses a unique blend of static code analysis methods to automatically generate a list of software dependencies for repositories. Soon, you’ll see suggested dependencies pop up in our app’s project claim flow. -
Submitted a key contract upgrade proposal. Our proposal, now in the Formal Review state, brings support for funding ORCIDs and any website to Drips’ mainnet contracts, aligns oracle providers across chains, and more. -
Launched the new Drips JS SDK. After not having a public SDK for a while, we now launched a framework-agnostic Drips frontend SDK package. It exposes easy, high-level functions like createDripList, allowing anyone to more easily build apps interfacing with the Drips protocol. -
Overhauled App Layout. The new app layout introduces a richer exploration experience, lets disconnected users navigate the entire app, and sets the scene for our “super-app” strategy. -
Launched new marketing landing pages. Our new homepage & solutions pages speak much more directly to potential partners.
Marketing
Reaching new markets. Q3 saw a relatively large uptick in views on YouTube. Reassuringly this was supported by higher viewer engagement and a marked increase in viewership in emerging Open Source development markets such as India and Brazil. We look forward to expanding further in Q4 as we branch out onto other video platforms.
Behind the scenes
This quarter, we invested into infrastructure behind the scenes in anticipation of increased traffic due to Filecoin’s RPGF round.
- Tightened down application security with Cloudflare WAF and Tailscale
- Started edge-caching 85% of traffic, greatly enhancing app performance especially outside Europe
- Got Ecosystems ready for prime-time, pending Deep Funding payout for release.
- Made key improvements to our on-chain indexer and underlying data model, increasing development velocity.
- Greatly enhanced E2E testing with broader coverage and more maintainable fixtures.
Looking Ahead
- Exciting opportunities with Filecoin & a major new partner. We have two large projects lined up, which we’ll be able to share more details for soon.
- Launching ORCID funding. ORCID support is almost ready for prime-time, pending only the mainnet upgrade proposal.
- Switching our protocol to use Lit Protocol. Using Lit, we’ll be able to greatly enhance the claim process for all types of identities. Claiming a repository will require one less transaction and remove our current Oracle provider as a centralized dependency. Additionally, users will be able to prove identity ownership using oAuth login.
