[Structured Discussion] Distribute LBP unsold tokens to the people who contributed to the LBP in proportion to their contribution

I’m out and sold all RADs. Not interested/excited anymore. But best of luck to you all!

And we care because??? If you’re going to cry and seek attention do it somewhere else where they accept toddlers

If the team does not support this proposal, then it is worth stopping this discussion and never coming back to it again. I think everyone has drawn certain conclusions for themselves. Good luck :v:

I’m not sure what the intent of that statement was but saying you sold all your token as a result of not being given more token for free is grotesque. Its confirming the thesis of the critics that giving free token into the hands of people who might not be long-term aligned isn’t a great choice. You should ask yourself the question why you’ve purchased the token in the first place. That being said, it isn’t even clear if the proposal will pass or not. The individuals from the team are minority token holders so the outcome is completely open.

In the last 3 years, there have been many contributions to radicle from peers who really care about the mission and didn’t ask for anything in return. Please put it in perspective.

i agree with you !! we should stop this discussion

there is nothing stopping this proposal from being submitted for Formal Review !

Like what @abbey said, I think that the proposal is the meaningful part of this discussion, we can submit our proposal whatever the core team’s attitude and whatever it will succeed or fail, we can just do it haha

Should we continue our proposal?

this seems counter productive. just going to dillute price and estrange non-lbp supporters. this would be much better used in something like a grants program for development. it’s a huge waste of capital simply to line the pockets of early investors and will hinder growth.

In my opinion, we all think of how this event would impact us as the ones who already invested money, time, enegy, etc. for this project. Let’s view this proposal as an ousider.

Scenario 1: Proposal is passed. Because of this, there are more tokens supplied (for free), the price can be apprehensive. However, the event will show to the insiders and ousiders that we care for the small pocket hodlers and that we have a strong community. Becaude of this, there will be more people who will be interested in our project and they will drive the price up as well. And of course, the distribution token has to be vested to reduce the impact.

Scenario 2: Proposal is not passed, this confirms that the votes of early investors are majorly favored which is less decentralized. This will reduce the interests of the ones who haven’t got involved.

Just a word of caution: look at what happened to zkswap. They made a 1:1 airdrop to all their holders. The price didn’t dump only to 50%, but more than 75% and never recovered.
In Crypto, the market is full of inefficiencies; a crypto trader without enough data is the norm.
I can see a lot of panic selling and negative pressure on token price.
as an investor myself, I was for the idea until the balancer pool was re-opened. The price would have adjusted then.
But now, it will crash the price.

TBH I hope the proposal can pass, because:

  1. This could be the first proposal put forward by the community but not the team, lonely.
  2. We have already spent lots of time on this

The good point of our proposal is:

This distribution would help the project by putting more votes into the hands of individual community members, make the project more decentralized.

This proposal might be a solution to help the project to be more decentralized, and most of us here know, this is not the best solution and there are a lot of better solutions.

The LBP holders should be rewarded, but not take over the community, not harm the new holders, all of us want the project to be better, of course, plus RAD go to da moon may be the best : >

I’m hesitating about this proposal because we set up polls in this discussion and we just ask for 50% of the unsold, all of the time.

I am thinking about the proposal in two versions, version-1 just follows the result of the polls in this discussion and it hardly can pass, version-2 is the one that I prefer and it might pass.

I want to introduce oscoin.io, the original concept of Radicle, drafted by @cloudhead and @lftherios, and the block behind is the initial commit of oscoin, the date, the dream starts.

commit af366534f64ad62aaf7713c10073e8dcb8ae17be
Author: Alexis Sellier <alexis@monadic.xyz>
Date: Tue Jan 16 23:41:15 2018 +0100

    Initial commit

We can put forward a proposal that both rewards the LBP holders and respects the team and the new holders —— we distribute few tokens and we put forward the first community-driven proposal, we reward the LBP holders and we are offering an example for the community-driven proposals in the future.

I’m thinking of using the UNIX epoch timestamp as the total amount of the distributing tokens to the LBP holders, 1516142475 -> 15161.42475 RADs, half to half.

The left 1000 holders could be rewarded by the percent of their holding RADs, this amount might hardly harm the community.

Proposal Version
  • Insist distributing half of the unsold
  • Distribute tokens by the UNIX epoch timestamp of the initial commit of OSCOIN, the date, the dream starts.

My answers are:

  1. Distribute how many unsold tokens to the LBP contributors?
  • [ ] 5%
  • [ ] 15%
  • [ ] 30%
  • [✓ ] 50%
  1. Should we distribute tokens to the LBP contributors who have already sold their tokens?
  • [ ] yes
  • [✓ ] no
  1. How many tokens should we distribute to one LBP contributor?
  • [✓ ] Depends on how many RAD he/she exchanged
  • [ ] Depends on how many USDC he/she exchanged
I’m fine with both. RAD would more make sense given the token sale was on LBP.
  1. Should we set a limit for distributing RAD to one LBP contributor?
  • [ ] yes → upper
  • [✓ ] no

We have discussed this topic for almost 1 month and many people are in favor it. Why Not move it to snapshot for the governance voting? Let’s move fast to build a great community.

I haven’t moved my Radicles yet since LBP. Can I do LP and still have rewards?

Hard agree. I’m not sure why feet are dragging on this. It’s popular with the community - please make this a vote. I’m starting to wonder why the devs are resisting this proposal …

I’ll try to draft the proposal tomorrow, just got some problems in my job last days and forgot this…

Welcome to PR this repo and fix my typos :seedling:

This is spot on. We should be using tokens in order to acquire actual programmers and build the community. Owning a slightly larger percentage of a dead network is useless.

If you want to own more just spend some fiat

Are we going to vote on this proposal very soon? Thanks!
